The Best Laid Plans ... (Belated) Vintage Lingerie Giveaway!

[EDIT: This giveaway is now closed, but I hope to do more soon!]

I am so sorry!  I had such great intentions to join in the Giveaway Day - all I can say is don't make any sort of blogging or sewing plans during your boyfriend's birthday!  I spent the weekend before his birthday helping him bake cakes to take to work (we made a lot and then I forgot to photograph them to show you all!) and then the day itself was spent running around on various errands and giving gifts and generally entertaining Mr Magpie.

So, my greatest apologies, dear reader.  Without further faff and ado, here is the vintage lingerie/nightwear pattern giveaway:

1940s nightgown and dressing gown (missing the embroidery transfer - boo!)

1950s nightdress, slip and knickers

There are no requirements to blog or tweet about the giveaway (though if you'd like to tell others about it, I wouldn't say no!) or answer a complex question: please simply comment below and, as I'm curious, just tell me something about yourself ... it could be your favourite pattern, what you like about these two patterns or what your first sewn/knitted/crafted item was, anything, I'd love to learn a bit about you! :)

The giveaway will be open for one week, until 12 midnight British Summer Time on Monday 4th June 2012.  I'll pick two winners using a random number generator on Tuesday 5th.  If you mention a preference for one of the patterns in your comment, I'll try to give you your preferred pattern, but if both winners wanted the same design, I'll randomly choose who gets which, if that makes sense (sorry, brain isn't fully engaged to explain clearly in this heat!).

Good luck!
x

EDIT - I forgot to say - I will post these patterns worldwide!

  1. Oh, both patterns are so cute!

Something about me...I learned to sew first by embroidering. My dad would draw animals on muslin for me, and I would backstitch them in colored thread :)

  2. I like both patterns but the second one I have my eye on. :) My Grandmother was a professional seamstress since she was 11 years old. I learned most of sewing skills from her. She was wonderful in that when I got interested in historical clothing she helped me develop patterns when there were no historical fashion patterns to buy like you can today. She also taught me so many wonderful handsewing techniques. In fact I love hand sewing...most people don't I find it relaxing. Anyway, I am trying to refashion my 'normal' day to day wear to be vintage inspired so I have plans. Thank you for sharing. So fun!

  3. Oh I love these patterns! I've been searching for nice gown/robe patterns but the modern patterns have no style or imagination like these do! My favorite is the top one though both are lovely!

  4. I love the 50s pattern :) I have been sewing since I was a kid, but only recently made my first ever completely me made garment - a sorbetto top :) My mom has always helped me on all my other projects and they have mostly been Halloween costumes. I also have a dress in the works. Hooray for Me Made :)
Thanks so much for your blog - I love to see what you are up to!

  5. I just love both of these patterns! The first one is my favorite! I never like the nightgowns you find today so I love to sew from vintage nightgown patterns. I've made a couple flannel nightgowns from a vintage pattern and I'd love this pattern to make up some light cotton nightgowns for summer! Thanks for the giveaway!

  6. Am I too late? I like the 40's pattern, of course. :)

Hmm, something about me... I always sneeze before I fall asleep and according to my sister I have done so since childhood. :)

  7. The second one is so cute!

Somewhere in my parents house is the butt ugliest set of crooked Barbie sized pillows, sheets, and quilts I made for my sister's Barbie Folding Pretty House. Also I can still sing the little jingle even though I havent seen the commercial since 1997 lol
